When I was young, I remember my grandfather having a hard time using the disposable film camera to take family photos. At a young age, I distantly remember offering to take them one day and my whole family was shocked that they were all in the frame. Since that time, you would rarely find me in any family photos because – even as a child – I wanted to be the one taking them. I was often “yelled” at for taking as many pictures as I could with the film cameras (film was expensive). In my teens I was gifted a digital camera and it quickly became a way for me to understand and experience the world around me. Nature photography was my focus.
My other passion is film. I grew up loving to watch movies with my dad (especially science fiction). I was always thinking about how the filmmakers got each shot. I decided to study film with the motivation to learn more about my hobby; it quickly became a passion. Nature photography turned into portrait photography and videography, learning how to tell a story. My main goal is always to make the subject feel as beautiful as I see them, or tell a story to hopefully make someone see things from a new perspective. I’m excited to continue to advance in my chosen fields. I am lucky to say I’ve turned a hobby into a rewarding passion.
