Each fall semester our senior graphic design students work with a start-up company or non-profit client on a design project. We typically seek work that is open-ended, problem-solving oriented, and thus forces students to engage in meaningful context-based and user-centered research and exploration.
This year we have three exciting clients who are providing creative opportunities for our students to offer effective and thoughtful design solutions. Our clients this year include:
The Sprout Fund
A non-profit organization who provides funding to support projects that ‘enrich the Pittsburgh region’s vitality by engaging citizens, amplifying voices, supporting creativity and innovation, and cultivating connected communities.’
Rorus Inc.
A startup company working toward improving water filtration systems for emergency relief and recreation purposes. Rorus is one of eight new companies hosted by the hardware and robotics startup accelerator, AlphaLab Gear.
La Roche College Education Department
Our Education department recently added a Master in Special Education, so our students are collaborating with the faculty from that department on means to promote the program. Three of our students are also collaborating with Education students on creating reading materials to be used in the classroom for student teaching.
All are invited to attend the presentation of our final design solutions to the three clients on November 17 in the Ryan Room (located off of La Roche College Center Square).
